Most scholars of the Bible agree that it’s unlikely that the snake in the Garden of Eden was Satan.

There’s certainly no mention in the story that the snake is Satan.

And it would make no sense that God would punish the snake and all future snakes for all time if it was in fact Satan and not the animal itself.
